Less Government, More Freedom: A Vision for Nevada's Future
Every dollar Washington spends is a dollar taken from a Nevada family. Every regulation is a barrier between a Nevadan and their dream. The federal government has grown far beyond what the Founders intended — and it's time to reverse course.
The Growth of the Federal Leviathan
In 1900, federal spending was about 3% of GDP. Today, it's over 24%. The national debt has surpassed $36 trillion. That's not a number most people can comprehend — but here's what it means in plain English: the federal government is spending money it doesn't have, on things it shouldn't be doing, and sending the bill to your children and grandchildren.
Every new program, every new agency, every new mandate comes with a cost. Not just in dollars, but in freedom. Because every time the government expands, your autonomy contracts.
Central Planning Doesn't Work
History has proven, over and over, that central planning fails. It failed in the Soviet Union. It fails every time a government agency tries to set prices, pick industries, or manage markets. And yet Washington keeps trying.
The federal government doesn't know what's best for a rancher in Hawthorne, a small business owner in Pahrump, or a family in North Las Vegas. But it keeps acting like it does — imposing one-size-fits-all mandates on a country of 330 million unique individuals.
I trust Nevadans to make their own decisions. Washington should too.
A Concrete Plan for Smaller Government
- Balanced budget amendment: Force Congress to live within its means, just like every Nevada family has to.
- Sunset clauses on all new programs: Every government program should have an expiration date. If it works, renew it. If it doesn't, let it die.
- Audit everything: Full transparency on where every tax dollar goes. No more slush funds, no more hidden earmarks.
- Return power to the states: The 10th Amendment isn't a suggestion. Powers not granted to the federal government belong to the states and the people.
- Eliminate redundant agencies: The federal government has over 430 agencies. Many overlap, many are obsolete, and many do more harm than good.
Freedom Is the Default
The Founders designed a government of limited, enumerated powers for a reason. They understood that government, left unchecked, always grows — and that growth always comes at the expense of individual liberty.
I'm not going to Washington to manage your life. I'm going to get Washington out of your life. Because freedom isn't something the government gives you — it's something you're born with. And it's time we had a representative who remembers that.
